Such a nice little bakery in a warm and cozy environment should be most careful when servicing their clients. I am giving them the benefit of the doubt and assuming that the more experienced appearing cashier who served us was having a bad day and did not realize exactly was she was doing.
Best place for breakfast, lunch n Friday nite dinners. Whitney is a very creative chef, with new specials every day. Julie always has a smile on her face and a warm welcome hello, to patrons new and old. They are a great team!
Actually, the issue began when she tried to charge us $4 each for the muffins despite their being priced @ $3 each. She tried to convince me that it was the blueberry muffins that were more expensive than the cranberry ones. whereas there was no such differentiation as she had claimed.
Last Sunday my wife and I decided to pay a visit to this bakery of whom we had heard many positive comments. We ordered two muffins and two cups of coffee. The muffins were priced $3 and the coffee $2 each. The cashier said that would make exactly $12. She could not give me a receipt despite having swiped my debit card. Later it dawned on me that the arithmetic was wrong. It should have added up to $10 (2 muffins @ 43 each plus two coffees @ $2 each= $10) She then refunded me $1..65 instead of $2.1270 ($2.13). When she could not do this simple calculation I returned her the incorrect change she had given me. Frustrated for no reason at all we drove to Kent where we had tow nice sandwiches at the friendly little place facing the gasoline station.
We have naturally decided never to set foot into this nice and cozy looking bakery. As they say, once shame on you, twice shame on me..
A welcoming and relaxing atmosphere with lots of windows and an open kitchen, serving a menu that will satisfy a sophisticated palate or your need for a morning coffee. Worth dropping in anytime you're hungry.
Terrific little place to grab a bite or a cup of coffee. Good atmosphere, friendly staff. It can get crowded on the weekend, but otherwise is easy to find a seat.
I did not want to file a consumer complaint since it would be unbecoming for such a trivial amount. Also maybe this was just a cashiers lack of arithmetic knowledge that was causing the issue. Sure enough when I checked my bank statement $12 had bee posted (debited) to my account. As obvious $12 had to be tax inclusive. So when $12 is divided by the sales tax rate of 1.0635 the quotient is $11.28. The issue is that non of their products contained any decimals. In other words, it was evident that sales tax had not been collected.
