I wonder if I ate the White Horse!

For lunch or dinner, the White Horse never disappoints! A friendly staff, inviting rustic atmosphere, two main dining rooms, a bar featuring a very cool antique item... and a relaxing outdoor patio along the babbling brook...just take your pick. Entrees and appetizers are time-tested favorites like onion soup or small bites to sandwiches and fabulous salads! From seafood to burgers, they're all done with an eye toward adding something special to each dish like the shrimp, encrusted in shaved coconut! Side-by-side on the menu you'll also find Shepard's Pie, Black Tuffle Meatloaf and Rum & Coke Babyback Ribs. For desert, the Royal Melting Chocolate Souffle Cake lives up to its listing under "Ridiculously Good Deserts"...but that's only the beginning! And no worries, you'll be back another time to try the others!

Totally disappointing.

The steak knife couldn't cut through without much effort. I can't believe it was a prime cut. Ordered med rare and it came med well. They did return with a med rare portion but I only ate half before giving up on it. Cooked too hot and fast, outside inch was well and inside rare. Service was rushed and I had to track down the waitress to get my dinner right.

My wife and I went, finally after saying we should go for over a couple years. We we should not have waited so long.. It was awesome and the atmosphere was perfect. Our table was near the back with a great view of the brook and surrounding woods. The food and staff were great! We'll be back many more times that's for sure.

Sorry to say that the prime rib this restaurant is so famous for, CT best, was very tough and flavorless.

The newly expanded digs gives way to a larger seating area allowing this staple of the community to serve even more patrons. Always a hit with the locals our experience here was pretty much on par. The service was very consistent as were the dishes we chose. Everything came out in a timely manner and was prepared with fresh ingredients and good attention to detail. Somethings could have used a little less salt but other than that flavors were on point and nothing was a let down. I got the chicken n waffles which was served with a whole boneless fried breast and a smokey caramel dip which was an interesting twist. Fab's Tip: when ordering the creme brulee french toast ask for a side of smoked caramel sauce and give me a air high five after that glorious bite!!

I have been here before in the food was really good. This time the food was not good. And the drink that I ordered was marked one price in the menu and then I was charged another price when I got my bill. When I brought it to the bartender's attention, she did nothing about it. She didn't do anything about the food that wasn't prepared properly either. Not a good experience this time, but I would definitely return and give them another try. I was just really disappointed with this visit.
