I hope to return again (I love going to the Hickory Stick) and another one or two good visits might boost this review to five stars.

Great coffee and pastries. Sandwiches are available for limited hours during the day.

The purpose of our visit was to have a coffee in the town which was an inspiration for Stars Hollow, a hometown of Gilmore Girls. One of the locals kindly and wisely suggested us to visit Marty’s Café. The place was nice, staff was friendly and coffee was good. Everything we needed, we got it. Washington Depot is not a touristic center of the USA, let’s be honest, but its peace was quite refreshing after days spent in Manhattan.

Good coffee and friendly atmosphere

I have only been there once, but I got EXACTLY what I was looking for. I wanted a comforting snack and a hot cuppa joe; I discovered a genuine black and white cookie (which was cake-ey without losing its cookie-ness, and the frosting was bold in flavor) and a damn fine cuppa coffee. The place was really mobbed (there was a book-signing event next store at the Hickory Stick Book Shop - it's a great indy bookstore) and some customers were cranky and had some aggressive elbows, but I was able to get my joe and go pronto. Damn fine coffee and genuine black and white cookie - - - nirvana...

A stylish gem, café-done-right, relaxed atmosphere with rotating art exhibits. Great coffee, tea, pastries, plus light breakfast and lunch offerings. Worth a stop, you won't be disappointed!

Good coffee and friendly locally owned place. Minus one star for a somewhat unhelpful employee but overall a pleasant experience and will return next time I am in Washington Connecticut.
